Creating my art makes me feel like I am a part of something timeless and that I am carrying on a pottery tradition that few are called to do today. I am connected to the very first human to pick up a handful of muddy clay and shape it into something. This fills me with such a sense of self worth and belonging when I think about my niche and my relationship to the world—both the people who live in it and the earth itself.
Inspired by nature first and foremost, I am drawn to organic forms and textures that mimic or just simply reference natural textures. My work is usually uncluttered and simple, basic forms. After having studied the history of Raku in Japan and it's evolution in the Western world, this rings true even more.
